Hi, I’m Kit Werremeyer
I’ve spent a lifetime building both my professional career and my personal passions. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. I went on to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I earned degrees in Business and Engineering and spent four years on the men’s swim team, serving as captain my senior year.
After two years of service in the US Army, including a year in the Republic of Vietnam, I embarked on a 32-year career with Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (CBI). My work in sales, marketing, and contracting took me across the globe, with notable time spent living in Jakarta and Singapore. My final role before retiring in 2001 was as Vice President and Area Director of Sales, Marketing, and Contracting for Asia.
In 2001, I founded Southernstar Consultants, LLC, where I provide business consulting and contract negotiation courses tailored to small and medium-sized construction companies. I’m also the proud author of “Understanding and Negotiating Construction Contracts”, now in its second edition.
For the past 21 years, I’ve dedicated my time to mentoring start-ups and small businesses through SCORE. I enjoy teaching workshops on everything from business plans to sales and marketing, including for veterans through the Boots to Business program.
Personally, I’ve been happily married for over 50 years, and together my wife and I have raised two successful children who have flourished thanks to the global experiences and education they received along the way. When I’m not mentoring or teaching, I enjoy building custom cabinetry and furniture and experimenting with Asian cuisine in the kitchen. Whether in business or life, I’m passionate about crafting strong foundations and helping others succeed.
